Traditions of Silver in the Christmas Holiday Season
There are other traditions tied to silver at the Christmas holidays. For
example, they used to put charms in pudding. The “charms” were generally a
sixpence, or sometimes a silver ring, that were stirred into the pudding to
bring matrimony or wealth to whoever found them in their pudding on Christmas
Day. But if you don't want to toss some small silver items into any of your food
dishes this Christmas, maybe you should stick with putting silverware next to
the plate and on your tree.
There’s something about using silver Christmas ornaments. Perhaps it’s a
tradition, just like bringing out the real “Silverware” at holiday time. So
maybe it’s traditional, or maybe it’s that it is so shiny and elegant, or maybe
you just love it!
